Good skin care should feel good on your skin. Iron Hide brings ingredients together with a clear goal: rich moisture, easy application, and a smooth, comfortable finish without a heavy, greasy feel.
Our moisturizing balms are designed to soften rough-feeling areas and help minimize the appearance of dry flakes associated with dryness. Start with a small amount, spread a thin layer, and add more only where needed. The amount you use makes a difference to the finish.
We focus on the whole blend: how it spreads, how it feels, and how easily it fits your day. Make Iron Hide the balm you reach for after washing, after shaving, or whenever your skin needs a moisture step.
Tallow is rendered animal fat, a traditional ingredient that gives skin-care balms their rich, substantial feel. It contains fatty acids including oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids, which contribute to its texture and usefulness in cosmetic formulations. The complete formula determines how a product performs.
Animal-fat-based cosmetics have a history stretching back thousands of years. Researchers identified ruminant animal fat mixed with a cave-derived mineral in a roughly 2,700-year-old container from ancient China, concluding that it was likely used as face cream.
A later Chinese text, written between 533 and 544 CE, specifically described cattle fat as a base for face cream. These records show a long history of animal-fat-based cosmetics; they do not establish an exact first use of modern beef-tallow balm.
That heritage inspires Iron Hide: traditional ingredients, practical routines, and skin care that fits everyday life outdoors. Modern research on topical tallow remains limited, and history alone does not prove superior performance.
The rich foundation. A fatty base that contributes substance and richness to a balm. We use it as the foundation of our tallow-based skin-care products.
Skin conditioning. Jojoba is technically a liquid wax — cold-pressed and unrefined, with a lightweight feel and applications in facial oils and balms.
Softness and smoothness. An emollient oil selected for skin conditioning, prized for soft skin and a glowing appearance.
Cosmetic care. Valued for skin care and a vibrant-looking complexion as part of the product formula.
Nourishing cosmetic care — nourishment, hydration, and a luminous, healthy-looking appearance.
Balm structure and feel. Beeswax helps give a balm its body and consistency, contributing to the way it spreads and sits on the skin.
A warm, woodsy finish. In scented formulas, cedarwood contributes an earthy, woody aroma.
